Knowing your own personality, your strengths and weaknesses, your interests and motivations, can be a great help when it comes to choosing a career, or moving to a new career, or dealing with personal or relationship issues. Career Paths Ltd offers you the opportunity to find out what you are really like and where your strengths lie with the help of two personality questionnaires: the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® and the 16PF5. These questionnaires are well respected and widely used by many organisations as an aid to careers advice, team building, and personal development. The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) The Myers Briggs Type Indicator was developed in the 1940s and 1950s, as a tool to assess personality. Since then, it has been considerably developed in the light of experience and further research. The Indicator, which takes the form of a questionnaire, is based on the theory of Psychological Types introduced by the noted psychologist Carl Jung. Jung’s theory categorizes people in terms of their primary modes of psychological functioning. It assumes that there are different ways in which the conscious mind apprehends reality and different directions in which its interests and energies flow. The various combinations of these factors result in a variety of personality types, for example, the Extraverted Feeling type, or the Introverted Intuitive Thinking type. The 16PF5 Questionnaire The 16PF5 questionnaire is based on the work of Raymond Cattell, a distinguished and influential psychologist, who identified 16 key traits that manifest themselves in different degrees and contribute to an individual’s overall personality. For example, the degree of satisfaction you derive from an emotionally close relationship, the calmness with which you adapt to and cope with whatever demands life makes upon you, and the importance you attach to personal independence and freedom of choice. Many careers specialists use the 16PF5 questionnaire to advise their clients and many employers use it to select staff. Would it be useful to complete both questionnaires? The results given by these questionnaires are complementary. The MBTI provide insights into how you arrive at decisions and make judgements, while the 16PF5 sheds light on aspects of personality, such as, the types of emotions an individual experiences and the intensity of these. The answers given on both questionnaires are a good guide to what kinds of work will give the greatest satisfaction and which the least. How long does it take to complete the MBTI and 16PF5 questionnaires? Each questionnaire will take up to 45 minutes Where will I complete the questionnaires? You can complete the questionnaires at home, or at Career Paths’ premises. Then, we will arrange for you to meet a qualified guidance adviser for about 90 minutes, in order to discuss your answers, in relation to your career ideas, previous employment and education, after which we will send you, within five working days, a detailed Report. This Report will provide a considered analysis of the information you have provided, giving a personality profile for you based on that information, and ideas for the type of work that might best suit you. How much will I have to pay? The cost of the personality assessment is £125, if based on one of the questionnaires and £200 if based on both. What shall I do next? Request a Booking Form by phoning or emailing Career Paths Ltd or download a copy of the form from the website www.career-paths.co.uk. Then complete the booking form and return it with a £25 deposit to Career Paths Ltd. We will then send you an explanatory booklet and the 16PF5 or the MBTI® questionnaire to fill in, together with a vocational questionnaire. Full payment must be made before the interview which will take place 3 or more days after the completed questionnaires have been received. The interview will take place in North-West London.
